PC Inspector File Recovery 4.0 is an small application able to recover deleted, erased files, lost data, lost drives, lost files from the Recycle Bin, etc. from every drive in the system.
The user interface is nice and the program has several (10) languages to choose at the begining of the operation.
The application scans the drives on the computer and their associated partitions, and displays information about these items. After that, the user chooses which logical drive for data recovering. With the "Preview" option the program displays all the details for the drive, number of clusters and sectors, partition type, volume label, etc.
Once the user presses the "Check" button, the application starts looking for lost or deleted data, and shows all the files found and the folders containing those. On the right side of the main window, files information are arranged in columns: Name of the file, size, date modified, MFT (Master File Table) entry, Condition and Type (audio file, video or image file, folder).
The Condition "Good" means that the file should be recovered without any problems, according to the publisher.
For advanced users, the files can be viewed in text or hexadecimal mode, so they can check what's missing or has been deleted.
The result of the search can be sorted by name, date, size or type in a descendent or ascending order.
On the "Object - Find" tab, it is possible to select the type of files the user is looking for: *.txt, *.doc, etc.
The detected files (one by one or all of them) can be saved to another folder or drive, for later examination or recovery, by selecting the file(s) and the "Save as" option.
